...no pun intended. What came first, the priest or the pedophile?

There are numerous reports of this type of abhorrent behaviour. I'd suggest if someone were to compile the numbers, there would be a higher percentage of accused or convicted molesters within the clergy than any other single occupation...even Ratzinger finds himself asking Bush for immunity in some case in Texas or Ohio that he tried to have hushed up.

Is it a case of a pedophiles looking for a position that gives them access to their targets, or a case of a holy men gone bad? And if the latter...what gives? Is this somehow a leftover from ancient Roman culture that accepted pederastry as normal?

It's sin. Those of the ministry are as weak as anyone else. Just as other sinners, they believe that GOD understands their sin and the reason for the sin. They also believe that because of their weakness GOD, forgives that sin.

Davie, what's your case? Is pedophilia a favourite Christian past-time? It's blatantly and repeatedly condemned - and should be by the church and population.

Before you speculate irrationally, though, get the numbers and get the uninformed against the church. I'd suggest that if someone compiled the numbers, there would be a higher percentage of accused or convicted molesters that look at porn than any other single group of people... Now there's something you can throw crap at - publications that encourage this behaviour.

I don't recall having made a case. I asked a question, that you declined to answer.

Before you speculate irrationally, <snip>

That's a red herring, sport. Does the question make you that uncomfortable?

Why not men, if they are so inclined?

Are there any statistics which compare the occurence of paedophilia among priests who are allowed to marry (and/or live in a homosexual relationship) and among priests who aren't?

It would be sin. Else, why have priests at all?

Not all Christians believe that homosexuality is a sin.

The bible does, I don't care about opinions when it comes to rightly dividing God's Word.

Rom 1:26-27
26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature.
27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

Outragous post from an apologist for paedophiles. They have made a lifestyle choice.. They can give up their line of work and get a different job at any time they choose.

What does that expression mean, "rightly dividing God's word"? When I have heard it, it has come up in the context where I often thought the person was saying "what I believe is right and what you believe is wrong." Maybe you could clarify it for me.

One could not engage in such heinous behaviour if one were truly a Christian.

Are you talking specifically about paedophilia or sexual abuse in general?

"Sexual practices between an adult and an adolescent and sexual aggression against young majors, do not fall within the confines of paedophilia. In this regard, the age criterion is a strict prerequisite. Victims must be under 13 years old." (Dr. Patrice Dunaigre)
