Originally posted by ThomasterThat came to mind for me as well, but doesn't the Judge's statement imply the same person who is guilty will also not be punished? And why is the case strange?
The sister's guilt is proven, so the lady who says her own husband was murdered, cannot be punished.
"Though her guilt is proven, this lady cannot be punished."
Grammatically, 'her' has to mean this 'lady' no?
I'm thinking the sister killed both the husband and the lady and so the lady is a ghost...or maybe the sister is already dead. Or maybe the husband was the lady's hermaphrodite sibling and committed suicide.

Originally posted by Der BayerSorry about not responding, I forgot that I posted the riddle. No one has guessed the correct answer, but people were very close. I'll include the answer (hidden of course) so that people won't have to keep guessing forever without knowing whether they are right or not.
I didn't answer the first riddle, but since no one else is posting a new one, I'll just post one that I heard several years ago.
Riddle: What am I?
I have a broad blade and a handle of wood.
I bring people down, for bad or for good.
The things I create are made out of air,
Replacing the elements previously there.
Answer: A shovel
main clue: "the things I create are made out of air" = holes that are dug by a shovel
