Now that should not be possible. His tourn entry level is 1870.
Even I could not enter said tourn.

Isn't tourn entry level the only measure for tourn entry? If not, whats the point in them? Aside club tourns.

He was creaming me, (rated at 1100 and change).
I asked: "You're playing shockingly well for an 1100 player. Tell me, what's your secret for your unprecedented leap in playing ability?"
His explanation: "Actually my rating much bigger, I resigned in all my games, I was thin ...[text shortened]... chess, it was an accident but it is turn out I am still can,"
Fishy to say the least.
Again if I am correct, the tournament entry rating is "calculated by the formula (CurrentRating + HighestRating) / 2. The entry rating will never drop to more than 100 points below your Highest Rating." It says that in the player's data page.
So how did Goodwill get into the tournament? His highest rating is 2034 over 5 years. His entry rating should never drop to less than 1934.
Just curious. I have been sandbagging the entire time I've been here, waiting to start my big run. π

who was rated about 2380 and at Christmas he said he had a family
meeting and decided to cut down on his games and proceeded to resign
most of his games. I was shocked when I saw I had won against him for
he had a very good position against me and if he had requested a draw
instead, I would have taken it in a second. His rating now is about 1980.

I'm playing this guy at the moment.
I don't think these guys do it to win tourns. Real life can get in the way sometimes. I myself have just come back from a break when it would of been hard to keep up my games.
Its just so easy on here to keep starting new games, then later on realising it will take months(or years) to finish them.
I will never do that again, because I am still playing one player who has
now used all his 14 days of time bank and always waits until nearly all
his 7 days are up before he makes his move. It is hard for me to
remember what my plan was when there is that much time in between
moves. I have decided to leave those long times to others, 3 days is
plenty long for me and I usually move within a day and have never
used any time bank.
Originally posted by JS357the problem with club tournaments is that ANYONE can enter the banded events no matter what their ratings are, sand boys like goodwill will add a u1350 to his record despite having a ter of 1870, if you look at site ideas leur has 102 thumbs up for his idea of making clubs the same as normal, ie you cant enter a banded tournament unless your ratings allow it, russ says this will be sorted soon, so in the mean time, scum like goodwill will win against players rated 700-800 below him/her or itπ

Just got what you w saying. Sorry I'm Scottish.
Yeh, better short if you want it over quick. Unless you think you gonna go away from internet for a while then go for short time controls.
But, you never know what will happen π
Originally posted by hedonistYes, but for club tournaments you have a different rating.
I don't understand what you're saying.

Tournament 13542 is a club tournament therefore your "normal rating and TER" are irrelevant.
If you look at your club you are currently rated at P1200, yet your main site rating is 1196 but your TER is 1582.
However, the likes of zawinul is in your club with a club rating of 1855, yet his main site rating is 2309 and a TER of 2316.
tomtom232 is also a club member with a club rating of 1100, however his main site rating is 1585 and his TER is 1598.
If your club was to start a tournament for players rated under 1250 then you could end up playing against the likes of tomtom232
Your TER is currently 1582 however if you do not play on the site for a few more months, then after the 19th March 2012 it will start to plummet and by the end of April 2012 it will be under 1200!
That is not going to be fair as you will be able to join tournaments well below your playing ability!

understand my words there too. I thought I would encounter many
intelligent people on the chess site, but we have people that do not
believe in God and those that believe in evolution. A bunch of
dummies. And on top of that they refuse to be taught the truth or
else have their heads up their rear ends.
