and Clivestraddle was beating me and everyone else at every tournament. Figures, he wouldn't even say anything after I asked something at the end of our games.

How does someone manage to cheat when they have 600+ games going????

also means I should have got a win for my first finished tournament.. .. now I am angry for the first time.

Yeah, did you see the Fat Lady blitz game last week, it did not look 2131 level.

it seems to me that most 'good' blitzers have trouble at CC. no real data on that though, just a feeling from observing how self-claimed hot shots generally do here. coming in guns blazing, often arrogant and talking big, but then waking up to the harsh reality of every 1500 being able to capitalize on a single missed move and hold the advantage. you simply can't assume to get away with any big mistakes in CC, they're just practically always caught and then it's game over. in blitz the same mindset will lose your every game for time.

of course it's impossible to know whether their claims had any validity to begin with...

Wormwood quote:
"it seems to me that most 'good' blitzers have trouble at CC."

Very true. But also visa versa.

Don't think you can compare the two. They are two different games.

Don't think you can use it a measuring stick to find a potential cheat.

I've won a few blitz OTB tournaments in my time.
Playing on net makes me I'd say 100 points lower. I still win 8/10
but mouse slips a plenty and I've always hated playing and solving
problems on a monitor screen.

My OTB will cross to my CC games. If I see an interesting sac I'll play it.
OTB it might be unsound but messy enough for me to win.
I'll have the clock and the human brain's tendancy to blunder as an ally.

In CC play I'll get clobbered if I try my old tricks.
Having said that, I'm an old dog so I will play as I play.
I'll lose a handful, but every now and then a minor brilliancy will emerge.

That will be the one I post 😉

we seem to have the same strategy, but opposite results. I also always rather risk it than play it safe, which can be seen in my drawing percentage. a draw is a defeat, but a loss is a valiant effort. die with your boots on.

I suppose the difference is in your superior 30+ years of chess experience vs my puny 3 years. you've seen it all, and know all the basic situations immediately. no thinking required, and no errors in deduction as you jump straight to the solution using memory. where as I have to think even in the simplest things, which simply uses too much time for blitz, and isn't that reliable done fast to begin with.

Only the players can see the game, everyone else is blind to any given game.

I know Fat Lady from OTB play and whilst I assume this remark is in jest I can assure you his OTB grade is very definately in that region.

I wouldnt say all would be cheaters, im hoping to get a pretty fair rating, maybe flirting with 2000 but i am pretty terrible at blitz. Though i think you might be refering to people playing like they dont have a clue - in which case, why dont they switch their engines on for a few seconds each move or something? thats not a recommendation.. but you would have thought theyd realise its a bit blatant?

I've played a fair number of 16 0 to 20 5 there. I doubt that quite what you mean by "longer," though.
