Looks as if you nailed that prediction. With three rounds to go, Anand will need to collapse entirely for anyone else to catch him. For example, Gelfand in 2nd place can tie Anand if he wins the last three and Anand draws his--not likely.

So....does/did Kramnik have any real incentive to play well in this contest? Forgive me, I don't know all the "ins and outs" of these types of contests...but it would have seemed more meaningfull to have another playing instead of Kramnik.
