I'm American and my favorite thing is toasted English muffins with butter, and a side of cottage cheese. I love English muffins! No coffee or tea since stomach surgery, but I preferred and drank tea. Beans sound good too. Perhaps I was British in my past life? 🙄 Long live the Queen! 😀

Probably not.
English Muffins are an American invention.
They are available in some UK supermarkets.

CRUMPETS are what the British prefer! (God Save The Queen etc.)

It's similar to black pudding but made without the blood.
Normally sliced and fried just like Black Pudding.
I've only had it in B&Bs in Ireland and "up North" - always in a full English..

Since starting chemo sessions a year ago have changed from six cups of coffee to six sips.
Biscuits (warm, just out of the oven) and sausage gravy is awesome.

That's real biscuits, you Brits, not cookies.

Never tried it with poached eggs, although my dad's fav was poached eggs on buttered toast.

That's, indeed, a very nice start to the day Leur.
I sincerely wish you an efficacious and speedy recovery from treatment. 🙂

English Muffins are sold in the UK and are known simply as "muffins."

But that's really unhealthy though. How do you have any energy?

We can't find anything here in the U.S. called crumpets, but our "English muffins" sort of look like them because they are round and have a lot of holes in them because of the yeast, similar to the crumpets. I looked up how most crumpets are made, and it seems the only difference is they are pan fried instead of baked like ours. I guess that's where the name "English muffins" probably came from - to distinguish them from our taller cupcake like muffins that usually have additional ingredients (like fruit - raisins or blueberries) in them and are sweeter, but not as sugary sweet as cupcakes. Anyway, they are yummy.

No idea how crumpets are made.
They are bought part cooked from bakery and then toasted and laden with butter!
