Most of what the astronomers say was in accordance with current Knowledge. However nobody knows what is happening at Betelgeuze. It is possible that it is thousands of years from cpollapse (or not, nobody knows).

And of Course I am more or less a lay Person in astronomy… I think they oversimplified the way elements are made by fusion (and there I would claim a bit of expertship)

Excellent video, informative and not too arcane.

Since Betelgeuse is roughly 650 light years from Earth, the supernova display may have already begun.
