You know I am not going anywhere while this Covid is on and you aren't either, you talk about travel, that is about as far as you get.

Travel while difficult and obviously not the same is possible at the moment you just need to really want/need it. I arrived here in a couple of months window when they didn't require a negative test or quarantine on arrival, now they do, Mexico still doesn't though last time I checked. Want to go to Peru but they've also brought back the quarantine for 14 days and that's something that I don't want to do. You'd be surprised at how many are travelling at the moment though. Life has to go on.

Ok, I'll compromise, you pay for the hotel and I'll come and visit 😉

Is it any wonder that so few people enter the prose competition when they read the thread about the prose competition and have to wade through two pages of this?

Yes, with a summary of the word limit, topic, submission deadline, format, -> email, etc.

And then afterward, any off-topic-spamming-troll, should suffer a ban for its duration.

This would both encourage reading and discourage trolling.
