Do you think sh76 was a wee bit guilty of airbrushing significant stuff from the history of the region by not mentioning the fact that the U.S., for decades and decades, propped up most of the wretched regimes that created the tragic need for "developing freedom"?

Well, the US has a history of helping regimes who they agree with, and that support their foreign policy, like afghanistan agaisnt the soviets.

However, they just used these groups they didn't impose something that was totally alien to them, the middle-east was never democratic, with or without american intervention.
