@mott-the-hoople saidLet's pretend the number of border crossers didn't go up when trump was president?
lets pretend biden hasn’t invited illegals to come, that laws are being bent to allow them to stay.
Let’s pretend democrats aren’t going to use them for votes.
Lets pretend this isn’t just another form of democrat slavery for cheap labor.
@averagejoe1 saidYou ask why Biden didn't sign the order but it's the same as why Trump didn't.
This was the question. I guess we could answer these silly posts by saying Trump had bad intel, who knows.
But your comments do not answer the seminal question.
And, you won't . Chalk up another one for ole AvJoe.
Trump tweeted about the border hundreds of times and yet he could have just signed an order to solve the problems? Come on Joe, why did he not do it when he had the presidency?
Is this like when trump tweeted "open the schools" while he was executive in chief of the CDC and DOE. Like, someone else should fix it?
@wildgrass saidTrump did sign the order…the remain in mexico policy was working.

why did biden, on his first day in office reverse this?
you say a lot of stupid shyt that just isn’t true
@wildgrass saidThis is the greatest whataboutism of all time from the greatest artful dodger of all time, but he is not so artful, considering that he blatently will not answer the question.

Let us 'pretend' that Trump was just incarcerated, gone, it is all over. Sonhouse had a celebration party at his chicken farm, and tomorrow is a new deay. NO more Trump, nor Trump to write about.
So, Here We Are. Why does the president, Joe Biden, not stop the hell at the border by signing an execututive order? The same process by which he opened (or whatver he did) the border on inauguration day?
Why will you not answer a question?

Remain in Mexico was not working. That's obvious from border patrol stats much of the huge increase in crossings were repeat offenders and they were using up huge resources to catch them over and over again.

@mott-the-hoople saidThere were more illegal crossings in trumps 4 years than Obama's 8 years.

@mott-the-hoople saidIt doesn't matter how you want to phrase it, fewer people snuck in before trump took office. His administration set all the wrong kinda of records.

""Remain in Mexico" was first developed and implemented by the Trump administration in 2019 and has been billed has a deterrent to preempt invalid asylum claims. The protocols have been applied only to a small fraction of overall border crossers, undermining claims of MPP's effectiveness."
"Mexico's foreign ministry says around 74,000 migrants were returned to Mexico under the program during the Trump administration "

That's a very small drop in a rather large bucket.
And the issue is moot anyway; the policy requires Mexico's cooperation and as the article cited shows they have made it clear they will not do so.

@wildgrass saidthe numbers are guesses, administrations can apply any number they want.

@mott-the-hoople saidYes, the whole world is afraid of Trump in your MAGA delusions. I guess that's why Mexico paid for the wall, too.

The point is Remain in Mexico was a minor program that certainly did not "close the border" as you claim. And it doesn't matter anymore anyway; the Mexican government has made it clear it won't cooperate with such a program now or in the future and there is nothing the US President can do that would require them to.
EDIT: From your link: " The government of Mexico has since indicated that it opposes any attempt by the United States to restart a similar program in the future. "
