"That negative view, that a lack of integrity and honor in sports will prevail, seems fanciful.
A professional sport has too much to lose if fans abandon their faith in it's product."
--Wolfe63 (page 3, post 12, "Should the Houston Astros Forfeit the 2017 World Series for Cheating?", Sports forum)

Note that arrogant white American native speaker of English Wolfe63 failed to grasp
his blatant grammatical error, for which he 'compensated' by hurling insults as usual.

Can Wolfe63 notice any errors in his apparent hero Benjamin Barker's writing?

"The boy almost loses his footing as a couple of children followed by a rowdy,
barking dog runs down the street. He stops his wheelbarrow to let a large cart
pulled by oxen pass. Upon the cart, the boy can see hundreds of fresh fish.
His stomach rumbles as he watches a couple of stray dogs walk behind the cart,
hoping for a morsel of food to fall from it.
Turning his attention back to his wheelbarrow, the boy car- ries on walking.
A few Roman soldiers pass him. Their legion armour glistens in the sun and the
short swords at their sides warns anyone who might think of causing a ruckus."
    --Benjamin Barker (from his book)

I would add that, apart from his blatant errors in grammar and usage,
Benjamin Barker's writing is very objectionable on grounds of exposition.

Everyone most be sick of that passage by now - let's try another one...

    CHAPTER 25 - Page 235

In a Syrian temple, the younger Julia Domna lies naked on a dais, her eyes closed and looking as if she is in a light sleep, or some kind of languid half-sleep. She hums a repetitive chant. At first, it seems she is meditating, but a naked man is on his knees before her. It is Pescennius Niger.
“Tell me, witch woman... Is it madness or prophecy?” he says through clenched teeth.
Julia is silent for a long moment. Then her eyes open and she speaks with an otherworldly voice, “I see the coming of the Black Caesar... in the Year of Five Emperors, when the blood of the north is spilled upon frozen fields...”
“Speak plainly, woman...” Niger seems irritated.
“You came to me to make sense of your vision... you have performed the rite. I see a man riding a white horse, robed in purple. He is... not you.”
    “What of my dream, woman?”
Julia laughs, “You dream of gold and glory. Yours is a small dream. Your dream says you will have the throne only through a war of blood, long after your body has died.”
“Don’t toy with me!” Niger turns towards her, angrily, looking as if he will strangle her.
“You have one chance to avoid this fate, Pescennius Niger. You must make a covenant with your most hated enemy.”
    “What sort of covenant?”

    Give me a break!

You've bellowed-on, ad nauseam, regarding your status as an "Academic Historian"; or a "Genius Mathematician" or most recently... "Opera Singer"!

Hey waiter! Can we get that credibility check?
    No?
What? There's more on her plate?

    Yep!

His arrogant uwiillingness to concede obvious
    errors is most unbecoming.

I may suggest that intermediate students learning
English be given Benjamin Barker's excerpt and
asked to correct or revise it.

The hateful lying troll Wolfe63 keeps hurling insults or lies.

Note that Wolfe63 fails to cite any evidence of
anything that I wrote that was factually incorrect.

Given his prejudices, Wolfe63 may refuse to accept
that a woman could know more than most men
    in a stereotypical male field.

I already have pointed out many obvious errors by
various writers on military subjects, including arms.
For instance, Earl of Trumps wrongly believed that
the Chinese Silkworm missile is a SAM. He also wrongly
believed that Iran has Russian S-400 missiles.
Phranny wrongly claimed that Sweden has no military. The list goes on.

I have not worked in the defense analysis field for years,
    so my current knowledge of
modern arms is much better than an average journalist's
but less than a professional specialist's.
I have expertise on some, but far from all, historical arms.

I do know some Chinese or Russian sources typically
    ignored by the US media.

Someone in my family worked at a high level in his nation's
defense, so I grew up around some technical shop talk.
When I watched aircraft, I could imagine myself designing
one, not just serving tea aboard one.

When I visited an aviation museum, my guide was
so impressed that he started to ask me questions.
We enjoyed a pleasant conversation, learning
    from.each other.

Note that Wolfe63 never QUOTES me in context.

I lack the time to deal with every whopping lie by Wolfe63.

Here's one of his less flagrant lies:
I did not claim to be an opera singer.
I did study classical.singing with a teacher who
was an opera singer. I can sing some easier arias, which is
    far from unusual for a
    competent classical.singer.
I suppose that, with enough preparation, I could be
cast in a minor part in some opera.
But so could many other classical singers.

And then it dawned on me, nobody would be that masochistic surely? This simply has to be a second account, the one they use to insult and abuse all and sundry (a burner if you will) so they can move without fear of their real chess playing account being suspended? It's the only thing that makes any sense!
There is great wisdom in your words sir.

    That must be it.

That's a bit lazy of you - aren't you even going to bother to point out the "jarring" errors in the latest passage? Or will you wait for someone else to do that and then just keep cut and pasting it?

OK, I'll play your silly little game.
I'll give his audio-book a listen soon and get back to you.

If the grammar is good and the story sucks, I will be disappointed.

But if the story rocks and the grammar is poor...then it'll be important to note that it's Duchess64, who sucks.
