I would like to see a 500 prose competition like the previous one, without specific topic😵

Don't know if it's too soon since I didn't enter the last one but a longer deadline is helpful to brew ideas and please, no topic.

I would give it three months before starting another prose competition. These things get stale quite quickly if you don't spread them out.

As for poetry... whatever.

Agreed.

As for topics, I personally prefer having a topic both because it makes it easier to come up with something and because it makes it easier to compare the entries.

Agreed, topics rule, but a cat is something to do with a bird, or other....

I'd be open to it. Topic or no topic. Theme, theme's, no theme or dealer's choice. Too specific a theme is limiting in it's own right and should be avoided. I could do with a 1000 word limit please.

I would propose that the entries get posted in the thread. Perhaps I'm wrong, but, I don't see this negatively impacting the judging.

Get Russ to formally post the competition.

That is just so Northern Hemisphere...

750 in August, no topic. Fine.

They have an annual book festival in our neighbouring town and run a short story competition. But you have to use just 14 words exactly. Something frivolous like that could be quite fun in the interim.
