Clans

I'm glad you didn't miss it. You like trouble and enjoy it. I could care less. We always played them and many of my players have clans and I play them to.
My matches with that team are small and they certainly did not contribute to my teams numbers. Your team plays a lot less than games and challenges and has a lot less gross points. But your winning percentage is ...[text shortened]... what you say matter so much less to me than you could ever imagine. Enjoy the forums.

Goodbye.
@Michael-Martin,

You lose twice as much as we do just for starters. The Games you have with that Clan are considerable especially since the Clan Leader is also in your Clan, it always makes for bad Optics, we have went over this before.

You don't work harder than Metallica you just get more challenges or at least were, I would have to look at all your stats which I will at some point find time to do.

I don't want to spill the beans on too much in a Public Forum.

What I say doesn't meant much to you is why you are in the position you are right now!

Respectfully,
As Always

@Trev,

Hey, he is the one put it out there for all to see, I have the right to comment on it.

IF he wanted it between him and the person he quoted to that is what the P.M.'s are for. 😉

Every clan needs a mascot.
@Ghost,

You are the perfect mascot because you play less Clan Challenges than most do! 😛 😉

Ghost you don't know the half of it. I make it a point not to read anything he posts. I happen to come across that one. But everything you have said has been spot on. You are very perceptive my friend.

@Michael-Martin,

You trying to make friends with @Ghost....LOL...

You know everything I have said is true.

I should have mentioned about you begging me at one point not ot leave the Clan but I will pass on that part. 😉

I will probably not mention about paying your Sub one year either, if I had known what I do know about you, I wouldn't have done so, but what is done is done. Only a few dollars anyways.

Well done for dismissing his toothless ultimatum.

You weren't the first and won't be the last.

I ask the clan community - is there value is modifying the clan feature so clans have the option to compete in a table where all clans will play the same amount of games in a yearly window. That may be a second competition - a Cup or Tournament - or may be the Net Points this year - most table.
In the past there were clan leagues, which ran as a parallel system/competition to the regular clan challenges, with division and promotion/relegation. It was overly complex, and ultimately removed after a good run. It was popular at the start, but interest definitely fell off towards the end.

So, I will spend some time looking at a further, simpler, parallel clan/team competition. If people like it, great, if they don't, it can fade away again, but I agree it is worth taking another look at this and the development effort should be worth it. 'Greenfield' work can normally be developed quite quickly, so I'm not concerned about that.

I'll come up with a proposal, and we can thrash it out to see what people would like to see.

The first issue, as with the leagues before, is there is no single time control everyone prefers, so you end up with a series of competitions (such as the solo ladders now) which dilutes clan competition significantly. I'll check the most popular preferences for active clan time controls though, and that will be a starting point.

If we can settle on one time control that is agreeable by all, that would be the first hurdle overcome!

3/7 is probably the most popular among the clans in terms of numbers but I'd say 3/14 is better for any new competition to cater for more or less everyone. The 7/7 games can take forever and 3/7 too quick for many.

Is some sort of clan cup possible?

One idea suggested was a single clan league with 5 boards (chairs) per team.

U2000
U1800
U1600
U1400
U1200

Anyone in the clan with a TER of under 2000 - even if they are 1500-1600 - could play on the U2000 board. All the way down the line. A 1275 could play on the U1600 board if needed.

As soon as the league starts - a players rating could go over their chair limit of course - if two 1390's play - someone is going over 1400.

If we had 10-team divisions with promotion and relegation - that is only 18 additional games added to a players load.

@Bish,

Another issue is we need a separate rating for the Clan Challenges as mixing lowers peoples ratings. Having one for Clan Challenges and another for the Club, tournaments, Site tornamenst and Private games would give a closer indication of what the Players Clan Challenge rating was, I have proposed this for years now avail because people find it great to fudge their points for the Clan Clallenges, if we had separate ratings it would be much harder to try and accomplish this.

If we had seperate ratings your idea is great, without it, doesn't mean anything!

i really enjoyed the clan leagues but i felt there was too many options regarding timeouts which meant a lot of the time the leagues didn't get enough teams entering
