There is a Halloween game in London, Denver vs. SF, I pick the 49ers.
October 31, Sunday afternoon (1:00PM GMT-4) in London. Las Vegas point

spread has the Denver Broncos slightly favored over the San Francisco 49ers.

Maybe it's just me, but that seems to indicate there's a lot of money to be had here...

Week 8. Ouch. Six wins six losses with one to go. Hopefully the Colts can score at least a touchdown more than the other guys...

It's pretty shocking how on the money these spreads are. Vegas really does know what it's doing.

Yes, Darv. To paraphrase Robert Frost, 'Well intentioned fans and bettors dance around in a seasonal ring and suppose; NFL Teams and LV Casinos sit in the middle and know'. Most fans still look in the rear view mirror to inform their picks. Andrew Byer quit Harvard to pursue his first love of thoroughbred racing and establish his now syndicated 'Racing Form' Byer Ratings. Never forgot his insightful advice regarding the lure of false/fragile favorites: "Bet the horse that (on paper) looks almost good enough to win".

Went big on the underdogs this week. Lost big on the underdogs this week. Five wins to six losses with two games to go...

But, I walk away feeling victorious. Why, you may ask? My beloved Browns, of course. Welcome to Believeland!

Often opportunities in the NFL, as well as in daily life itself, are curiously presented to us individually with considerable illogic

requiring a thoughtful leap of faith (which somebody in charge with a massive sense of humour takes huge pleasure in).

You may say I'm a dreamer (although I'm not the only one)...

It was on this forum that I first posted my illusions of their grandeur:

I realize we've been down a long, long time. The last time a championship happened here, I was being born. Many things point to the continuation of such dismal results.

However, a few things indicate that tides may be turning. To wit:
New coach with a winning attitude.
New president and new GM, both with winning attitude and records.
Retainment of quality players.
Excellent positions in the draft.
Loss of under-performers.[/quote]

Two top teams in a row? Saints at home, Pats anywhere? A defense that continues to confound the best quarterbacks in the league? Peyton Hillis? Colt McCoy? Welcome to Believeland, baby!

Did I not tell back then that adding McCoy would be a big boost? He is a winner. Perhaps not the greatest QB ever, but he is gritty tough and elevates others' play around him. He's a good kid as well! Go Browns!

Enjoyable, highly competitive event with the score Ravens 21 and Falcons 20 with a minute to go ended with the Favorite Falcons 26

More than all of that - he's got a great football name!
