How do we decide whether beliefs are true or not?

Anyway, you needn't be holding a true belief in order to take a stand and make a mark. Obviously.

I agree with this, to an extent. We don't need to know the future to have faith and react to the world we live in, in a way that pleases God. God knows our hearts, and I'm absolutely fine with that.

Okay, come on. You can't make a statement like that without some kind of clarification.

Said the whale to the manatee
'now religion's just vanity,
Pride and ego man took
and put down in his book.'

Do you know anyone without pride and ego?

Ecclesiastes 1:1-3King James Version (KJV)

1 The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem.

2 Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.

3 What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun?

🙂 No the manatee was complaining thought I'd push it your way since you quoted the whale.

No. If the Bible is true, then God is evil. If the Bible is true, then God is evil. An all-powerful creator putting mortal souls into eternal torment for any reason at all? It gets worse. He does it not based on whether we are good or not, but on what we believe without evidence.

A creepy ancient Hebrew god of war. I piss on it. There are way better gods all over the place.
He does it not based on whether we are good or not, but on what we believe without evidence.

Actually we will be judged for the works we have done, whether good or bad.

2 Corinthians 5:10King James Version (KJV)

10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

As for the evidence there is plenty of that.

Romans 1:20New King James Version (NKJV)

20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,

I've been eating Swis Chard, dark chocolate and brazil nuts, which apparently are high in magnesium.

Early days, but does seem to have some beneficial effect. (Might be placebo).
