Not even in rape would this world class assshole allow abortion or the morning after pill either.
He says 'in cases of legitimate rape, women can shut the whole thing down'.
I assume he means the woman has control over whether she conceives or not.
Where do we come up with these asssholes?

This is the interview to put things in context.

"If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down......which is not much better, but at least he isn't saying that a woman has conscious control over conception.
He apparently realized he had come off like an assshole after the opposition started publicizing his comments:
In reviewing my off-the-cuff remarks, it's clear that I misspoke in this interview and it does not reflect the deep empathy I hold for the thousands of women who are raped and abused every year," Akin wrote. "Those who perpetrate these crimes are the lowest of the low in our society and their victims will have no stronger advocate in the Senate to help ensure they have the justice they deserve."
The answer to your question is that he's saying what sells with his base. They will perceive him as a courageous defender of unborn children. That's the trend on the right these days. It started with crazy state-by-state amendments: laws that defined 'personhood' as starting at conception, and forcing the would-be mother to view ultrasounds of her fetus before getting an abortion. It carried on with Rick Santorum's surge in the Republican primaries. There seems to be no anti-abortion position that is too extreme for them.

Because true Christianity is about a relationship with the creator not rules.
A relationship with the resurrected and available Jesus Christ.
Creator has become incarnate as a man and then as the life giving Spirit to be our inward divine life.
His indwelling Spirit is the rule. We just learn to abide in Him.
