It would certainly help my faith if the 'shroud' was proven real.

Real in what way? It really does exist.

You should PM @RJHinds; within minutes you'll be an evangelist.

You should 'be aware'.

Never again will the church let icons suffer examination. They learned that lesson.

The sort of people who think along these same lines as you already believe and insist that the shroud has been proven "real". So what are you waiting for?

No. I have seen photos of it. I am fairly sure it exists based solely on evidence, not faith.

And now have conformed in Christianity?
No.

Good to know.

Obviously it exists, the real question is it the shroud of JC. And the answer is no.

The thing is amazing and mysterious by itself. We know the time period where it was created. But how and why? By whom?

We know roughly the time period and can guess at by whom, and can make a reasonably good guess as to why (relics are valuable). I wouldn't call it amazing or mysterious though.

Sonhouse, I mean via carbon dating, without research right now I think middle ages, 1400 or so?

Tw, there is still how. Why, yes forgery is lucrative. Who, please share. And I want to say, I like mystery, and wonder why you like popping bubbles. meany-head

The problem with the official dating was they took a piece from a corner that had been repaired later so showed an erroneous date. They won't be given a second chance I'm sure. The church would not like to have it dated to the year 400 or so....
