Why do we have them, and a bigger question is what happens if we break these sacred rules?

We have them to learn what is offensive to the being who made us so that we can attempt to please Him by following His rules. I'm actually rather surprised that there are only 10 Commandments.

Also, if you'll note, not killing and stealing is actually beneficial to people.

If you break the Commandments, particularly without the blood of Christ washing it away afterwards, you'll probably end up being punished.

They are pointless.
I can't remember them exactly, but last time I looked the first five are basically, thou shalt grovel and kiss my arse, and the next five are blindingly obvious ones which could be replaced with "don't be nasty".

All of the commandments are there for our benefit. Every time we break a commandment we are hurting someone.

Which ten commandments? The first ones or the second ones?

I would love to hear your own answer to that question.

Scientific research has shown real benefits for having one day of rest per week. People who work seven days a week can get "burned out."

Say if you lie to someone on the sabbath or steal.

I don't think that the sort of forgetting of the Sabbath that is forbidden by the commandment necessarily hurts anybody.

Then you just hurt your friend and God by stealing and lying to them.
And you hurt yourself and God for not keeping it holy.

If God can be hurt, does that imply that he has a weakness?
If God can be hurt, does that imply that he is not perfect?
