you don't make pets out of your food. i learned that at a young age when the chicks my family had purchased became my best friends. then they grew up and became food. very bad for a kid.

dogs, hamsters and guinea pigs aren't food. goldfish are debatable.

now all this begs the question. how did the fox get your bunny? do you let them run loose in the yard?

Good job I dont believe in any deities else i'd be cussing him now!
I'm very sorry for you loss, we lost our first child 13 days past her first
birthday over 20 years ago and I still cry over her even now when I find
myself talking about that time. I don't do it as a rule.

I do believe in God, He has made the loss easier, but this topic is very raw and
personal, the one thing I want to convey to you is I'm very sorry for your loss
nothing more.

My Marmite has run out. I am spreading Bovril on my toast this morning. It's so sad.

For you a quote from a Qawali, since you relish Urdu Qawalis.
A forlorn lover having lost his love says :-
( Since ) there is no remedy for my unsatisfied Desire, except Death;
I am looking for a doctor who will give me poison as medicine !
In Urdu,:- Mere namuraad Junoon ka hai ilaj koi to Maut hai
Jo dawa ke naam pe Jahar de aise Charagar ki talaash hai !
There is really no satisfactory translation for " Junoon ", except that it is the grand overwhelming passion, the soul consuming yearning for the lost beloved.
What tragedies this world has seen because of Lost Loves .
I did face personally such a tragic event when the true love of my life rejected me and married another man ! Oh the pangs and heart stabbing moments of those days . Only by grace of God did I survive .

Aye unreciprocated love, its too painful, Kalashnikov straight to the heart. There is
a similar Scottish ballad, Black is the colour,

Black is the colour of my true love's hair,
Her lips are like some roses fair,
She's the sweetest smile, And the gentlest hands,
I love the ground, Whereon she stands.

I love my love and well she knows,
I love the ground, whereon she goes,
I wish the day, it soon would come,
When she & I could be as one.

I go to the Clyde and I mourn and weep,
For satisfied, I ne'er can be,
I write her a letter, just a few short lines,
And suffer death, a thousand times.

Black is the colour of my true love's hair. . .

Junoon is like a kind of exalted madness i think and very appropriate for one who is
so struck with grief over the love of a lady, unreciprocated, many dull the pain by
taking it out on themselves, dum maro dum! met jaye ghum!

there was a wood pile against a wall that the fox used to get into my garden, yes my
rabbits run free, i cannot stand to see them locked up, 'nothing in nature likes to be
locked up', ( a quote attributed to long John Silver in RLS Treasure Island)

Thanks for the poem !
But there could also be many harsh and painful moments, sad moments in human life besides disappointment in Love !
As the saying goes " Muhabbat ke siwa kai aur bhi gam hai jamaneme ! "
or freely translated :- Oh, there are many more sorrows in this world besides Love !

Actually I have posted a couplet in another post reg.questions to be asked to God. The couplet is by the great poet Shailendra and sung by Lata. A young woman, disappointed in Love, is complaining to God :-
God,why do you play with mud again and again ?
God why do you love broken toys so much ?
Everytime I hear this song I cry.
In Hindi :- Mitti se khelate ho bar bar kis liye ?
Toote huay khilonose pyar kis liye ?

I know the feeling.

Just a couple of months ago I had to bring my Irish Setter in to be put down because of bone cancer. The poor guy was in so much pain he couldn't walk anymore and I had to carry him in.

But I consider myself fortunate as he was a fantastic dog that we adopted when he was 2 years old and his original owner couldn't care for him anymore. He brought much happiness to our household for a few years.

Also like to say my heart goes out to those that posted on this thread that have lost a child. I don't even want to imagine that pain. Thankfully, I've got two daughters that have grown to be happy/healthy young adults and I can't think of anything more horrible than to lose one of them. Religous differences aside I think this is something all us parents can relate to.

I was listening to Lata the other night, the BBC Asian service had some awesome
archive footage of Lata and Asha, Noor Jahan and various others, interestingly i did not
find the Qawalis to my taste, i dont really like Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

Some songs of Shailendra were containing deep meanings and always referred to Mankind's yearnings for realization of God. The film Teesri Kasam which he produced ( the cassette/DVD of which may be available in your neighbourhood Hindi film music shop) is an extraordinary film worth seeing and its songs and music are great.
I recall here his song sung by Mukesh in the film Anari. Just describes in short his philosophy of Life.
" If you can, do reciprocate someone's smile,
If you can, do take up someone's sorrow as your own,
There should be love in your heart for someone,
That is Life !"
Great Music by Shanker Jaikishan. Do listen !
