Referencing your first response in twhitehead's Life thread; given all the conversations that could have taken place up until that thread, all the other posters that could have joined or left, all the technologies and competing sites that could have hindered this site's popularity etc...

What were the chances (lets only go back as far as the dawning of the internet) that a Life thread would be made in the spirituality forum of a correspondence chess site (namely this one!) for which (down to every typed character):

you forgot to add, mud water and a reducing atmosphere, oh and some lightning and a chance occurrence of something in the region of,

1X10^000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

is the response you would make?? 😕

1 in 50. Maybe even better odds than that if God wanted to help it along.
He might have wanted me to witness to these two JWs. For I already had
the chess knowledge and the knowledge of knowing the beliefs of the JWs.

Apart from the occasional stress relieving (albeit otherwise completely pointless) pot-shot post at the likes of RJHinds I haven't really had chance to sink my teeth into any threads - too much unpaid overtime to be done!

Hehe, I hear you.

I'm just now getting out of the heavy season in my job (I work for the Postal Service), so we'll have maybe a month of overtime left related to that and then back to normal. Good thing my overtime is paid. 😀

I think one could add another billion zeros to that easily.

Would you demonstrate to the forum how you came to that conclusion.

Nope. Just common sense if used should work for anyone. 🙂

Pulling baseless statements out of your backside is anything but 'common sense'.

Assuming that instead of: 1X10^000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

you meant something like:
[WORD TOO LONG] [WORD TOO LONG]
can\'t find superscript \"-\"

then your statement is demonstrably false. Indeed limiting ourselves to just lowercase letters of the alphabet then there are 26^(how many characters you typed) different posts you could have made here which is trivially greater than 10^(how many characters you typed) (and of course, greater than the number you seemed to have posted) - and moreover since you hold us to the belief (unwarranted) that life arose, from nothing, and completely randomly (such that no change in some collection/configuration of atoms were influenced by the configuration of any others) then I am allowed to play the same game and assume it is equally likely you could have made any other of those aforementioned 26^(how many characters you typed) posts. Take reciprocals now to deduce the chance of you making that post is far less than the chance you whimsically assert life originated from non-life. (Furthermore I've made no mention, here in this post, of all the other things that had to happen such that your post in the Life thread would happen!)

If I got paid for all the hours I (had little choice but to) put in over Christmas and New Year to make progress, all alone, in a task that was doomed by my "colleagues" thousands of miles away I'd be doing rather well for myself on the money front! :]

I'd go with a baseless statement out of my backside anyday instead of baseless statement coiming out of someones mouth about something like life just happening from nothing. Lol.

ah but dear Agers, you were unaware that the number of numerals was i fact a chance
occurrence itself as i simply placed my finger on the zero and let is 'zing', until i
thought it was enough to demonstrate the mathematical improbability (i think
mathematicians hold that something ten to the power of fifty zeros as being almost
an impossibility)
