Why is there more violence in the whole of the Koran than in all of The Old testament?
I haven't finished reading the Qur'an, but it appears to me that the violence there numbers less than in the Hebrew Scriptures, although the writers of the Qur'an are a bit less sqeamish regarding the violence they report.
The most striking difference between the two texts: the Qur'an seems to offer much more that the Hebrew Scriptures regarding G-d's magnificence. It seems to me, if a person's anthropology runs down the common path (humans are vile sinners), the Qur'an offers more comfort. The beneficence and magnificence of Allah, as reported in the Qur'an, makes Yahweh appear weak and spiteful by comparison.
