I heard on the radio of an organisation "doing God's work"
and it ocurred to me what an odd turn of phrase it was.

Now I never mind stepping in and helping out anyone who is
too busy or sick or otherwise incapacitated but I'm damned
if I'm going to do somebody elses work for them.

Especially if they are omnipotent.

I think the theory is that you are doing someone's work for them, and you can't avoid that. At least the people who anthropomorphize good and evil will say you are doing God's work or Satan's work. No other choices are available. Then they are prepared to tell you what God's work is. If you take it as truth, whose work are you doing?

So you are saying, just do good and that's God's work?

No History teaches us you can do really bad things and that is Gods work too.

If I believed in God and Satan, and I listed all the good and evil things that I do, I would decide that they are all either in service of God's aims, or in service of Satan's aims. The good things I did would be me doing the work God had in mind for me. So I suppose that is a yes. But when you say "just" do good, you seem to make it sound easy.

Well I purposely worded it that way as yes there is more to it then just doing good. That is important of course but Jesus showed and taught there is much more to it.

Is there a corresponding difference between doing evil (bad) works and doing Satan's work, such that there is much more to doing Satan's work than just doing evil (bad) works? If so, this would appeal to my sense of symmetry and proportionality. (For whatever that's worth.)

The Blues and rock music.

Without one they would never have had the other.

They say it's the Devil's music but I don't know.

I love to sit back and listen to the Doors, Free, Lynard Skynard.
Old stuff too like Robert Johnson....John Lee Hooker.

Me too. Getting on a Country music kick right now but I'm still picky with that.
