What do you mean in your profile by "the right to carry"? The right to bear arms?

"2nd amendment", "the right to carry" - I'm thinking "the right to bear arms" is a pretty safe assumption.

Tell us about Jesus too. I'm interested in your Calvinist beliefs.

lol, I have a thread going called "Is salvation a free gift?"

You can also google 'John Calvin'. You can find a lot on him and his believes.

Why not? Just because we carry don't mean we are not safe. Infact, an armed society is a polite society. Criminals prefer that we are not armed. I carry because I am a woman with children and I want to provide them whith the best protection I can. It is better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Because I wouldnt want to live in a paranoid environment.. and if there was real reason to carry a gun I prefer to live somewhere else.

I do not only carry for protection from a criminal, I also carry so that our government does not get too prowerful. They are already trying to take our guns away so they can make us slaves to the government.

"The right to keep and bear
arms supplies the basis for the
retention of all the other rights:
to speak, publish, practice reli-
gion, etc. Men who do not have
the ability to take up arms to de-
fend their rights will soon find they
have no rights. Privately owned
weapons are indeed the ultimate
authority. Having the right to
possess them protects the rights
to speak, publish, etc."

"The main purpose of the Second
Amendment has always been to en-
able citizens to protect themselves
from governments. The Second
Amendment was not promulgated in
the interests of hunters, sportsmen, or
target shooters. It guarantees the right
of every citizen to be armed, not just
those who use their weapons for leisure purposes."

Do you believe Jesus, like the Dutch in WW2, was a failure for his inability to defend himself by not taking up arms?

Also I noticed that there were no biblical references in that website for "the right to bear arms" being "God-given". Could you cite some? Your theology intrigues me.

Well said. We must protect ourselves from both criminals AND our own government, lest it become something unintended.

What would be a good piece to own from a scriptural standpoint?

simple double-barrel shotgun is good for home defense. I'm not an expert, but a friend of mine who is recommended both the Steyr AUG and Galil, but both are out of my price range. But if you have the means, I'm sure they would meet anyone's standards.
