And you are 'not going there' because every time it was discussed you were proven wrong - yet here you are bringing it up again. You don't care what the facts are, you want the conclusion to be true regardless. That you are making the claim now despite having been presented with the facts (which contradict your claim), makes you dishonest.

Perhaps you live in a great place on the planet with few issues and if so good for you.
Its not the best place, nor the worst place. But it sure is better than 100 years ago, or 500 years ago, or 1000 years ago.

But maybe if you lived in one of these areas you may think differently:
Yes, it is possible I would think differently. But I would be wrong.

I will give you a hand. Here is a list of all the wars from 1900 to 2012. You can probably do a comparison of each 25 year period and see ...[text shortened]... what I can see the last 25 years or so has been the most peaceful in all of the last 112 years.
So all the deaths in the last 25 years are acceptable? And now look at the gloomy picture of what's happening earth wide.

One has to look at the year 1914 on and look at the bigger picture compared to the last few thousand years of mans existance.

So, show us some statistics. As far as I am aware, the rates of murder, rape, starvation and wars are all going down quite significantly. What do you know that I don't?

Give us the link to just ONE of those ten threads [you mentioned "the tenth time"] ~ one where you think you made your 'The World is Going From Bad to Worse' argument most strongly and ~ to your way of thinking ~ most convincingly.

well well well, look what the cat dragged in! One must of course admit that shooting down airliners over the Ukraine now in the throngs of a civil war, killing innocent children as they play soccer on a beech in Gaza are encouraging signs of things on the way up!

This list of two things from you does not constitute empirical evidence that supports galveston75's sweeping claim.

I say it does, in fact here is the scriptural reference,

You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end' - Matthew 24:26

The scripture you have quoted could have applied to any point in the last 2,000 years and could probably be cited as applying at any point in the next 2,000 years without much doubt. You simply picking two things from today's news is not empirical evidence that supports galveston75's claim.

the MV Wilhelm Gustloff was a german civilian ship sunk in 1945 by a russian submarine, an estimated 8500 civilians were killed. its easy to cherry pick individual events in time. you need to look at the globe as a whole and the fact is that deaths through war and military action is lower now than at almost any other time in the last 2000 years. that doesnt sound like things are getting worse to me.

It may interest you to note that Jehovahs witnesses believe that Christs prophecy from the book of Matthew has its major fulfillment after the year 1914. You do of course have statistics with which to back up your claim of things 'getting better', since 1914?

Oh wait thats right, there were two world wars! which killed millions upon millions of people after 1914, indeed bright and rosy if you are a warmonger!

On the contrary our belief is that the major part of the scripture has its fulfillment after the year 1914, the year of Christ presence which he speaks about in Mathew 24:1. The two world wars in which immediately proceeded after 1914 cannot be applied to just any point in history in the last two thousand years. What is more it is understood that these events, as detailed in Christs words are merely a beginning of 'pangs of distress'.

you need to go and read a history book or something. the most violent time in world history was between 1206 and 1227 in which the wars of ghengis khan alone were responsible for over 11% of the global population, the second world war was around 2.6% in fact the 2nd world war comes 5th in history, the top 4 are all pre-1800's..........of course if you of a religious nature then the most violent time in history was the time of noah in which 99.9r% of the globab population was slaughtered, now im pretty sure things are better now than they were then.

You fail to get the point.

Things are going from BAD TO BETTER.

Your thread title Bad to worse does not apply to how the world is going.

galveston75's "Bad to worse......." claim is about now. He even name checks Barack Obama in his OP. We await some evidence from galveston75 to support his claim.

but a much smaller percentage of the population died, 2% compared to 11%. i dont know about you but personally id rather see 2% of the population killed rather than 11%.
