And with everything going your way, too. What a heart breaker!

On the bright side, what a great lesson in staying aware of the file
your King sits on. It's always good for others to have a reminder of such
things; thanks for posting the game.

You are at yout most vulnerable, more so OTB, when you are just a
few moves away from your opponent resigning.
Though in this game I'm not too sure if you are winning after 32.exf6.

He has Qxc2+ and the King cannot stray from the e1 Rook.
Does Black not have a perpetual nuisance?

Your opponent lived up to his name.

OK, so you blundered. But to resign on the spot? I'd have gone ahead and taken the rook for my queen to find out what he did next. He knows he's now up a little material, and he might get excited about winning and make a counter-blunder. Ya never know, stranger things have happened.

You're right. I saw after exf6 that he would play Qxc2+

after looking at it again though, once I played Kf1 he had he had Qd3+ which would force me to play Kf2 and so on.

Here is our other game which he made a mistake of giving me a good passed pawn.

I once saw a pig fly 😀
But I agree.Trade queen for rook, stick remaining rook on e2 and let him prove he can use the queen's full potential.
It's a long shot but one must fight untill the last man standing.

I agree I resigned too early. I was upset with myself and didn't keep my composure. Something I think I need to work on if I plan on playing OTB again soon.
