But he's not described as a good guy?
Culled from the W.R. Harston's book.

My favorite is probably Tal, but who doesn't love Tal? Fischer is probably my second favorite but I'm American so I Kind of feel obligated to have him in my fav's XD
I like Tal because he made the game fun, don't get me wrong chess has always been fun, but when you get people like Fischer who are a little robotic in their play Tal really lightens it up (imo)
My favorite is Kasparov. He's playing the only game worth playing now: politics.
Originally posted by heinzkatThanks for showing this! I only met him a few times briefly at a weekend tournament, but it's nice to see that my impression seems sound. I have two daughters myself, and it probably means more to me to see him make other moves because he clearly wants to leave his knight attacking her queen without taking it in the hopes that she will eventually notice.
Here's a real villain in action

All of us chess players are competitive (an assertion, but I am comfortable asserting it), and we all have our moments, but my impression was that Karpov just enjoyed being at a tournament around chess.
As an aside, the USATE where I saw him was in the mid 90's, just a bit after the end of the cold war, and I have always wondered if Karpov was relieved or surprised by his reception at the tournament. It was in Parsippany, New Jersey, close to New York, and there were over 1000 chess players there. People just loved having him there, as well as the opportunity to play him, as he was actually board one for a team in the tournament.

1- Capablanca 2- Carlsen 3- Morphy 4- Kasparov
I used to love Kasparov more than that but sometimes he has some personality flaws I can't put up with.
Capa is THE chess legend! So cocky and cool. Capa and Morphy were probably the 2 best naturals of the game.
