I had it all figured out:

"At some point he'll forget about the mate threat, shift that rook off the back rank, then I'm in".

Many moves later...

43. ... hxg5

"44. hxg5? Nah - Rh8 and my mate evaporates...

Hang on - fxg5 and he can't stop mate on g8. Winner.

Hang on again, why don't I just play Rg8 now - mate in one?"
