Didn't somebody just ask this?

That question is WAY to broad. I consider myself an openings addict - I don't know why I like learning about new openings, but I do. So, to give you an answer that you probably won't like, you'll have to be more specific. For example, do you like closed or open positions? Are you a tactical or positional player? Do you mind studying theory, or are you the type of player that only wants to study ideas?

shredderchess.com is a good place to start if you want an opening database.

Particularly fond of the King's Indian Attack. Any site or book (there are too many to know which to buy) is what I'm really after.

This is your best opening primer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Chess_openings
And the Exeter Chess Club has lots of good stuff: http://www.exeterchessclub.org.uk/Openings/sic10.html

chessgames.com is also a decent place to start. Their Opening explorer is a decent start (even just the little bit you don't have to pay for) and the pages on the specific openings can be a great help (links to games and other players kibitzes).
