Chess is not a sport.
We have enough elite tournaments, this would be just another.
They would raise the qualfying bar so high only 10-20 countries could play.
In the Chess Olympiad everyone can play.
It's the last big open where a relative beginner can play a GM.
Nobody should be able to tell anyone they cannot play chess.
Chess would suddenly be subject to all the Olympic rules.
Do you want to see a queue of GM's lined up giving urine samples?
I'd hate all the flag waving, national anthem crap that goes with the Olympics.

The 100 metres. That event laste 9½ seconds.
By the time you have read this far it was over. What a load of nonsense.
The lap of honour with the flag wrapped around the winner took 3 minutes.
That is 18 times longer than it took him to run the stupid race.
A 9½ second event? A farce.

I say chess comes no where close to qualifying as any type of Olympic sport. It should not even be considered a sport in my opinion.
P.S. The 100, 200, and 400 meters are my favorite events to watch in the Olympics probably because I had experience running them myself and know something about what it takes. I never was good enough for the olympics, but I was able to compete on the U.S. Army track team.
The post that was quoted here has been removedI suspect that it is an error in recording and Black resigned before an actual move was made. I have seen it happen before. It could also have been played on those automatic recording chess boards and it was not cut off immediately after the resignation and the extra move was not noticed by whoever printed out the resulting score.

The point I want to make now is, I am old and mature (I like to think that despite lack of proof, lol) enough to accept an opinion that differs from mine. I can even live with the idea that my opinion would be simply wrong. So, let's keep it at that.
