I just completed this test online

http://www.chessmaniac.com/ELORating/ELO_Chess_Rating.shtml

and got the suprisingly high result of 1780. My current OTB elo is 1504, though that has risen from an estimated 1290 in 8 months, so I would say my current OTB rating is an underestimate. 1780 equates to about 140 BCF, which would be a grade I'd be massively glad to achieve. How accurate do you think tests such as this online one are likely to be? I set up each position on a board, and allowed myself 5 minutes on the chess clock ticking beside me. If the result is accurate then I probably need to spend more time and take more pride in EVERY SINGLE MOVE when playing over the board. I tend to just find an acceptable move and go with that, rather than necesserily finding the best move i possibly can in the time available.

elo is ecf grade multiply by 8 add 650 so my 1455 estimate gives me a ecf grade of 100.625 ;-) id say was about right but improving all the time

1,730 - slightly over my current ECF grade of 126 (~1,658 ELO).

I get 1890. Current USCF is just in the 1500s, but rising quickly after a four-year hiatus from competitive chess.

The more time you allow yourself the higher your estimated ELO Rating should be. Some regular rated games I play give 45 minutes for each person to complete the game. On average that would mean for a 45 move game that would allow 1 minute thinking time per move. So perhaps you should redo your test allowing only 1 minute to think at each position. You might feel more confident that you really are about the rating you receive then, IMO.

I guess you can just do it one time. I did it limiting my time to 1 minute per position like I recommended and got an ELO Rating of 1565 for myself and that is very close to my current OTB USCF rating.

1375, but I did mine while barbequing and playing with two small children, so I may have done better in a better environment.

I got 1935.

Though 10 problems does not seem like enough for an accurate test.

1480... there were a couple moves where I just knew there was a better option, but couldn't spot it

Also my excuse is that I had Tim Minchin on the telly 😀

1480. But I did it while my wife was watching Twilight in the room.

I agree, except I think
4. e6
5. Bc5
6. Bxf6
9. Rxb7
are better.

These adjustments put it at 2185.
