Has anyone thought about copying Whites openings moves?

I mean to the extent of not getting into a bad position.

I've heard stories about this.

Anyone play similar?

a friend showed me a game where white played e4 and black copied his every move... white demonstrates the power of his tempo by going on to win the black queen for a bishop!

I'm sure there might be lines that would eventually transpose into the Guioco Piano that are essentially copycat moves. But this usually ends once white plays Be3 at some point, to which Black usually responds Bb6.

I know there is a method of winning the game if white knows for sure that black copies whites move exactly. However, I don't know how.

Perhaps this is a poser already shown in the puzzle forum...?

That's one of the first things I did against my dad when he was teaching me to play, I'd have thought most kids would be the same. I learned quickly it was a crappy idea.
