Psychoactive drugs give the user the illusion that 'all cannot be better,' folk can think they're being their most imaginitive and 'skilful' at whatever they're occupying themselves with at the point of intoxication. Drugs such as alcohol ( before the depressant effect takes hold ) and cannabis alter, amongst many other things, mood and perception.. creating mild euphoria at best. Is it no wonder that the user thinks they're exeperiencing something very special and conclude they really do operate on a higher plane at such times ?? The evidence speaks for itself and later witnessing of the users 'great ideas' tend to fall flat on their face come morning..not a great idea after all.

Also never play while having a fever of over 103F. Causes chess delusions and an overwhelming urge to sac minor pieces and hang major pieces! Once this happens a few moves later you go "Where's my rook and queen, knight and lt sq bishop?""Why does my position suddenly suck?" If combined with psychoactive drugs I guess then one still feels all's well?
Last night our university held it's pint-a-point competition. They're just 5 minute games with a pint in hand. If you haven't finished your pint by the time your clock runs out, you forfeit your points. A good few rounds in I had this cheeky win with white.
