If you wonder about the starting position, it's a thematic tournament, so the pieces are set up for the From Gambit.
I'm only a 1300-1400 ranked player (at best) and I like to think that even I would not have played those moves. 😕

If you play a thematic tournament you should at least check the theme XD
I had a 6-mover over on GK (http://gameknot.com/chess.pl?bd=2329759)
1. e4 Nf6 2. e5 Ne4 3. d3 Ng5 4. Bxg5 f6 5. exf6 gxf6 6. Qh5#
The quickest mate (as opposed to resignation) I've had here was probably on move 13 Game 781595 - this was the second round of an open tournament, so my opponent was obviously not usually this naive 😉
Originally posted by TestriderYes, that's what maybe surprised me most, too. It's a well known trap in the From Gambit. But I guess some people like to figure things out themselves. And I am sure if you have done this mistake once, it won't happen again, so maybe it's a good way to learn. 🙂

i missed a move on move 10 i had a piece advantage after g4. i went for a win half of the time they will see it half the time they wont see it. if i had not made that mistake ne ways i'd be a piece up. come guys im only 17 ne one want to play me and see if their up for the challange then challange me and meet your fate
checkmate in under 10 or even 20 moves will not be a fun game. you would win but those wins are only traps and players above 1400 or 1500 will not step into those traps or even play the moves allowing you to set up those traps. the only reason someone should be checkmated in under 10 or 20 moves is that one person is like 1600 and the other is 1200 otherwise theres no way

(can't post a direct link to the game so hit control+f and search for legal 😉)
Originally posted by TestriderI would expect any decent player worth his salt to avoid getting mated within 15 moves, asnd certainly to avoid Legall's mate.
