I'm thinking the other side of the stage from the keyboardist (if there is one), who is normally on the right, although I see no reason why this can't be switched up.

Also, the drummer is best in center back.

If he was a proper rock n rol bass guitarist he would not be stood at all. He would at least be half slouching if not totally wasted on the deck.

The drums give the bassist something to lean on, or fall into, which is pretty cool.

By the rule, bass section or at least bass guitarists are newer members or just hird for the tour, or if the core of the bande wants to emphasize their place in the history of band etc.

Usually bass and rhythm guitars are in the shadow, and the drummer if he/she is hired and did not take part in recording.
