Can't bake a cake big enough to get them all on there. He is having a favorite dessert...pumpkin pie and whipped cream. 🙂

I make 4 pumpkin pies every Thanksgiving because my extended family loves them so much. I make them with Splenda, not sugar, and I also add a teaspoon of brown sugar, remove the cloves and ginger, and add a touch of vanilla and extra cinnamon. I serve with sugar free whipped cream. The folks go APE over it.

When I lived close to my family, I always baked the pies for the Thanksgiving dinners. Always had two pumpkin pies and two apple or mince meat pies. Now my daughter lives close to my sisters, and guess who is making those pies? Someday, I hope to be back with them. Eating Thanksgiving dinner in a restaurant year after year, just does not bring the joy that being with one's family does. :'( It has been 37 lonely Thanksgivings for me.

You have eaten Thanksgiving at restaurants for 37 straight years??? OMG you are coming to my house next Thanksgiving! That is horrible!!!

Ah, minced meat pies. Nothing more disgusting have I ever tasted, with the possible exception of fruitcake. I know, those are very traditional. But that's why I make pumpkin pies without the ginger and cloves. Those spices require a very specific taste. And my Mexican in-laws love my pumpkin pie, saying they hated "regular" pumpkin pie, so, I guess I have some data to back me up. 🙂

Sign o' the times? Good bye to all-spice and cloves? I hope so!!!
