Not really. We're used to translating for Americans. Trev's just having a bad day. 🙂

some things are better not being metric, time for example. The Frenchies tried to make time metric way back but 10 is not very good as a division of time, 12 is much better.

If you think that's what women want, you must move in very limited circles.

I can tell you from personal experience metric is a LOT better when used to build things.

You go 123.4 mm plus 567.8 mm=691.2 mm. In inches, 4.858267717 plus 22.35433071 =27.21259843 inches. So which would you rather build something with? Or you have something 4 33/64 inch plus 3 25/64 inch= 8 3/32 inch. What a stupid way to make stuff.

Or if I measure some length, in inches I have to look real close to see is it in the 1/4 inch slot, 1/8 inch slot, 1/16th inch mark or what and how many of them whereas, you see 340.4 mm you don't need to do anythng more, just read off the numbers directly you don't futz around with 1/8, 1/16, 1/4 divisions on a ruler. Again, using inches to measure is really stupid. Only Trump would use inches to measure stuff. Ah, my new building is 76 feet 3 and 3/32 inch wide. PALEEZE.

In my job I often have to make my own stuff, like a home made tool for a specific job and I NEVER use inches and feet, ALWAYS meters or mm.

For instance, the way you calculate frets on a fretted musical instrument is the inverse of the 12th root of 2.

12th root of 2 is 1.059 rounded out, don't need more accuracy than that.

Invert is .9439 rounded out, So if you have a fret board exactly 1000 mm long, the first fret will be 943.9 mm and the second at 890.9 and so forth till you get to the 12th fret which is going to be exactly half which comes out to exactly 500 mm.

Try all that in inches.
