@Ponderable
Yes, Trump is sending yet another aircraft carrier group to the region.
With half the people on our side, it should go smoothly.
@Earl-of-Trumps saidSmoothly would be defined as ?

@Ponderable saidLooking at it in hindsight, Pondy, I'd say their intentions was to obliterate Iran no matter what
Smoothly would be defined as ?
that post was quite a while ago, no?
@Earl-of-Trumps saidPost has been a while ago, and my point is that maybe people will claim "smooth" operation, but as I see it it is all but.

@Ponderable saidWar, as with chess, is never a “smooth operation” unless your opponent is far weaker than you are.

In this war I think that there was only ever one objective; to weaken Iran and remove the nuclear threat, which I do believe was imminent and real given that the previous strikes obviously didn’t do what Trump said at the time (repeated what his military advisors told him). I don’t think Trump had any intention of regime change, but I do think he (again, his military advisors) underestimated Iran’s ability to block the Strait of Hormuz.
@diver saidAs has been suggested, the blocking of the Strait of Hormuz by the Iranians should have been an obvious issue but apparently, those who should have been in the know, missed that bit.

So many delusional people in one post. Threatening to block Hormuz, cutting undersea internet cables, attacking shipping in the Red Sea are all part of the mo of these Islamic extremists, when they run out of ideas. So its ridiculous to suggest that people who are versed in war strategy and logistics somehow missed anything. If they block shipping so be it. It was far more important to end Irans stranglehold on the population and destroy their potential for nukes and their war machine.
