Note: using a girdle, as uncomfortable as it might be, can often be less of a struggle than going on a diet.

Note: a griddle is the only means of cooking that many Scotsmen are ever seen using and, even then, it's only in films about rebels hiding in the wilderness during the Jacobite rising in the C18th.

Definition: aside from being a collective noun for geese, it is a disorderly or noisy group of people.

Note: the word's use has a condescending meaning when used to refer to a group of women, especially if they are not disorderly or noisy.
