Generally, this site's forums and messages are poorly implemented for iPad. It's best to use a hardware keyboard and use the navigation keys to move around text boxes (i.e. various combinations of Cmd, Option, Shift and the arrow keys).

I use the iPad quite a lot for browsing, but usually with my trusty Apple keyboard, which makes things easier by a long way. When a kb is connected, the iPad recognises keystrokes like Cmd-L to go to the location bar, and so on and so forth. I also like the double tap to adjust the width of the text to the screen width, among several other things. I dislike the lack of adblocking, although for users of iOS 9 and more recent models of the iPad I believe this is an option. Safari on the iPad also has the very useful Reader function, which I use more and more.

But you're right, Google Chrome is probably still the best browser for desktops and laptops, although I'm also very impressed by Safari in El Capitan.

have you tried scrolling just the text on the screen, not the virtual keyboard???
i don't have or use an ipad...
the one time i tried playing chess on my android phone, i inadvertently moved my queen into check by a freakin pawn...
i shall not make that mistake twice...
