What is the notion of Political Correctness like in the society where you live?

Has its application ever restricted you in any way in your everyday life?

And in that same everyday life ~ in your workplace, or in your social life ~ do you ever have to try to enforce it?

There have been times when I've had to stop and think about a way I might respond to a question asked of me because what might have been OK to say 30 years ago may now be taboo. I have had my knuckles rapped in the past for a faux pas but I am a quick study.

Yeah, I have constrained myself in real life quite a lot. I come from
a generation and a culture where scatological and sexualized
humor is the norm. If you add a longtime appreciation of the likes
of Andy Kauffman, Richard Pryor and Doug Stanhope, it does
create quite a dangerous cocktail.

Obviously, as society develops into a much more politically correct,
sanitized stance of what is proper to laugh at, I have had to keep
certain traits of my sense of humor for a very small circle of
close and/or like-minded people.

How has that affected me? it has created, in a way, two versions of
myself. Which is quite standard, if you think about it, as few people
are 100% the same in formal and informal situations, or in
different societal contexts, e.g. work, family, etc.

It seems like people walk around on eggshells today. They try not to offend.
I think if you're offended and hurt so easily by words, you're a pussy.
Find that offensive?
Pussy!

What you look like on the outside is not what makes you cool at all.
I mean, I had a mullet and wore parachute pants for a long, long time,
and I'm doin' okay.

look, we all know that all canadians carry a ham in their pants...
bragging that it grew there on it's own will not score forum points...
