I wonder, if these people have their own families, is this a justifiable activity, I mean the odds being so bad?

They seem to be driven to do it? There must be an attraction for people to get involved with these exciting, high risk people. The men are fit, strong and fearless and sometimes their partners may even get drawn into joining them.

As death is something that will, eventually, happen to all of us dying doing something one loves is probably the best way "to go".
