I need another hobby. Photography, playing guitar and chess just isn't filling the gap.

Golf, sailing, birdwatching (might tie in with photography), mountain biking.

Golf - Tried it (never again)
Sailing - Never appealed to me.
Birdwatching - Again never appealed to me
Mountain biking - I have a mountain bike but prefer to ride it on the flat. Hopefully I can get out more when the 'good weather comes'.

Hey I tried. If I think of something else I'll send it along. Oh, oh, how about gliding or parachuting?

Just got back from a quick sprint on my bike. It's a beautiful evening so no excuses. Thanks for the inspiration.

The best bike for urban riding is a mountain bike.

You put as many miles in as I do and a fragile ten-speed 'road bike' just doesn't cut it.

In 1971 I was transfered from Montreal to Toronto and decided that rather than having a car in TO I'd sell mine and buy a "good" bike. I bought a Peugot 10 speed. I toyed with the idea of a mountain bike and tried one but found I preferred the 10 speed. I used a bike to get around ( I lived & worked downtown) , except in the winter of course, for about 3 years. I once calculated how much I saved in comparrison to a car..I've forgotten how much but I remember it was "astronomical" and there was also the great shape it kept me in. When I needed a car I'd rent one.

I use one for work every day and couldn't agree more. Those road irons, shrapnel and debris would tear a racer (I think that's our equivalent of a '10 gear'😉 to pieces. Not to mention they are much better hopping up kerbs 😉
