"Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose, And nothin' ain't worth nothin' but it's free". Song: Me and Bobby McGee

To what extent is this true?

I don't think it purports to be a comprehensive definition of the word "freedom"!

What has been the single most poignant or edifying exercise of the aspect of freedom you most cherish so far this year?

You might wanna start off by getting the correct lyrics first. Just a tip.

If you actually mean "But they are correct", no they aren't.

Specifically the second line.

Are you talking about the spelling of "nothing"? Or a version sung by someone else?

I wonder if Suzianne is going to concede that the lyrics in the OP are in fact correct, or is it a case of 'her work is done here'? 😀

according to AZlyrics - the Janis Joplin version:

Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose,
Nothing don't mean nothing honey if it ain't free

I thought I was the spelling/grammar nazi around here. 😕

I had the lyrics as Kris Kristofferson penned them in mind seeing as he wrote the song.

Please try and imagine the life poor Suzi leads.
She will have joined dozens of inter web sites so she can scrutinise thousands of posts.
Fervently googling desperate to find a tiny error to make herself feel good.
What kind of a life is that ?

So do you have a personal copy of his original lyrics?

I don't care who you are, but "if it ain't free" is completely different from "but it's free".

But you're right in that the Janis Joplin version is by far the most popular version as well as the most heard.

His lyrics are all over the internet. I am also familiar with several other versions of the song including by Janis and also the Grateful Dead. The Dead changed the words in a few places too I think. Is this issue really preventing you from discussing the OP?

Freedom is when I am away from my wife, the dragon, what a sweet relief... that's what I cherish

This isn't even worth commenting on.

How do you live with yourself, misrepresenting people like this?

I did not claim to be quoting the Janis Joplin version. I take it you are fond of the song. What is your take on the sentiment about "freedom" that it expresses?
