My wife requires melatonin to get to sleep sometimes and L Theanine to stay asleep.

a mental health professional telling me to have a lie down at 8am. it has to do with the capacity of the brain to recharge which generally isn't ever better then at 8am. 10pm to 2am is the only time I CAN get uninterrupted sleep. AT those times I don't have difficulty sleeping.
It was night time here when I told you to lie down. I have no idea where in the world you are located. 'Lie down' 'go to bed' 'take a break' all common expressions when someone is starting to make silly posts (like you talking about a neighbors ass).

And of course, I'm not a mind reader.

Well, perhaps this will give you a chuckle, some days I just feel like staying in bed....I got to remember I am not in my 20's anymore.... 😉 Over do it one day, you pay the next day.

I am happy to hear that really. Can't be fun having sleep issues, and having to cope with it everyday. I think would drive me crazy....Ok some figure I'm already there!!! 😉

Insomnia is a strange animal indeed. (And it isn't 'every' night. Comes in waves).

Say, for example, I go 7 nights in a row with no sleep whatsoever, it is only on the 3rd day that I feel exhausted. On the 4th day onwards I don't feel tired at all and function normally, my brain seeming to have adapted to the sleep deprivation. Fairly recently I chaired an important meeting at work after 6 nights of zero sleep and was my normal jokey, focused and sarcastic self. (I don't believe anyone in the room would have guessed I had gone so long without sleep). The sledgehammer only returns if I go 8 nights in a row, and it is only then I take some time off work. (Never taken a sick day due to my insomnia, always annual leave/holiday).

Amazing that you are able to focus after going without sleep for that long.
I asked about the sleep apnea because I found out back some years ago that I had it. Use a CPAP machine every night, was having tiredness issues doctor couldn't find anything sent me to a shrink, and he suggested I check to see if I had a sleep apnea, he knew the lady in charge it was a new thing at the time, and got me moved to the top of the waiting list. Worked like a charm, I use it nightly. So against popular belief in these forums, not mental issues that he could find anyways. 😉 Do you know what is the cause of yours, is it something very rare?

I have a circulation problem in my hands (originally diagnosed as Reynards Phenomenon, though my current specialist disagrees with this). Basically, at night, I lose blood flow in my hands and lower arms (You know, that feeling you get when you sleep funny and wake up with a dead arm and pins and needles). Not a serious condition but uncomfortable enough to keep me awake.

So [you] were tired is the reason you told me to have a sleep?
Tonight I slept from 10pm to 3 am(when trucks start up). It's purely environmental where shifting would fix the problem.

The thing is I don't need to lie down because I just had a violent(by noise) 2am to 8am. If I did would I have had the good 5 hrs deep sleep I just had? Mistakes were evident you believe but it isn't necessarily caused strictly by tiredness but also from abuse(by noise).

I am at an improved state in life as I used to live on the main road through my city. I never had 4-5 hours grace.

When I was there I was getting spammed by road workers. One day (by the noise) they knocked me out. Fed up, I didn't care how many were there I went to do a double leg flying kick into one of their signs but I made a mistake because in the anti-terror vid I had googled they landed on the car bonnet. One of them came after me real angry. He had his hand in my face so I punched it. He took it away then put it back so I punched it HARD. He turned around and took off down the road... without being chased. I had a sore leg for about 2 weeks.
