Month/day/year is perfectly logical. We usually say "December 12th" rather than "the 12th of December."

Month/day is an entity in itself. Today is more than just a day in December and not just the 12th.. it is December 12th.

The choice of "Dec 12" or "12 Dec" is arbitrary. An ideal logical system makes sense in all cases. "Dec 12" is fine until you start including the year, so "12 Dec" should be preferred.

No matter - I was just trying to tweak the US-bashers. Standards often don't make sense logically. I am typing in a language that has twisted rules like "I before E except after C, except in words sounding like A, as in NEIGHBOR and WEIGH" (but that still doesn't account for the word SEIZE), on a keyboard that was designed to slow down even the fastest typist.
