General

I hope that babadad's medical issues are handled and that he resumes his chess-with-glee activities as soon as he can.

My mentioning Babadad’s first name, never occurred to me to have been anything that was against TOS or worthy of a alert. I have in the past used trev’s first name and I am sure that there would have been others. I was called away from RHP for some time/real life and on returning trying to see how that thread had carried on and was surprised to see…there it was…gone. What on earth transpired in my absence?🤔🤭

Edit: who alerted it…and why?

It was addressed to babadad and was merely a humorous quip about his and my low chess ratings.

All I did was point out to babadad, good-naturedly - that there are posters like you and Very Rusty who purvey a brand of forum banter that involves babbling inanely and incessantly about chess ratings - like you are now.

@babadad
You're welcome back here once your medical treatment allows you more time to play chess and post.

Stees, you've been here long enough, you should know this by now. Revealing information which could identify a person in real life is very bad forum etiquette and against ToS. There are people on here who, for reasons which concern no one else, wish to remain unknown to others here. If such persons reveal their names in private forums or PMs, then that information is expected to stay confidential, not made public. Just by way of example, if Sting and Robert Plant were RHP members (not that I know them to be), and they founded a private RHP club for musicians, they would be entitled to expect their identities to remain unknown in public forums. If someone else then addressed the person as 'Sting' in a public forum, his cover would be blown. Granted, the name you mentioned is common enough, but that's no excuse. We have to have a consistent rule on this, and either all personal names are off limits, or all personal names are allowed. There can't be a list of common names allowed to be revealed (Tom, Dick, Harry and Sally) but others not allowed (Robert, Graehme, Sting) -- that simply won't work.

Kind regards, @moonbus

I am baffled as to why this OP would be alerted.
