I’m thinking this gorilla is just too big for the debates forum.

The unimaginable is becoming imaginable. All that’s left is demonstrating successful reentry, targeting and detonation and there’s
only one way to do that.

What should we do now, before the demonstration? What should we do after it, if demonstrated over ocean ocean? If over a city?

Why should a country be prohibited from having nukes by other countries who have nukes?

IMO it is a question of whether the balance of power among the nuclear players is stable, in terms of threat. That is the important “should.” If it goes nuclear no one will care about what any one state should have.

Indeed there should be a General Abolition of nuclear weapons.

However nuclear weapons are invented and can't be uninvented. So rogues with sufficient knowledge and Access to nuclear material will be able to built a bomb...
Making bomb-material is not trivial but doable for a rogue Regime.

Besides NK is just bluffing in hopes of getting a better deal with sanctions and such.

They know full well we have thousands of nukes and they MIGHT have 10. Let's see, who wins THAT battle?

They know that full well so it is not a threat, they are not going to Nuke Tokyo or San Fransico or Hawaii, that is not their game.

Their game is strictly intimidation and car chicken, who backs down first, they are aiming to get sanctions removed.

Normally I would have seen that so.

But Kim Jong Un has enough blindness to realities to try something...and Trump is not the guy to step down on anything...risk becomes at least imaginable.

I disagree. His ego may be puffed up from having an entire nation worship him as a feared god, but he's not stupid. He didn't attack Guam after Trump's "fire and fury" comment. Sure, to save face, he continued with bellicose insults, but he did cease any nuclear tests near that area.

Kim Jong-Un is not Trump, except in ego. Kim is much more calculating and methodical. Everything he's done has been deliberate, as a show of force to the world and as s propaganda to the NK people.

Someone is going to have to quell their pride, and reach out to NK diplomatically. Treaties and trade deals need to be reached. Forcing countries to do anything never works, unless an actual war is waged. Obviously, we don't want that.

And for SURE china doesn't want it, they know good and well they would have to deal with millions of Koreans slipping into China and what to do with them after they got there.

Un is totally bluffing, playing a dangerous game for sure with a loose cannon like Trump in the WH.

One think Trump probably never takes into account is this: suppose he does launch the big one up north. He probably doesn't even know the fallout will go to South Korea, Japan, China and even Russia has a southern border with NK.

If T even thinks about that he would probably go, 'oh well, we got Un' Sorry about the fall out in Tokyo'

Think Hogan's Heroes.

Just dig escape routes for the populace to South Korea till there is no one left.

I hear NK tested a missile that can reach Washington DC.

Now are they trying to destroy the country or save it?

Ignore it. The Navy can stop anything NK can throw our way.

Kim’s no smarter than Trump. Maybe less so. And he’s young. Lack of experience.

Kim has far more political experience than Trump. Not only has he been a world leader longer than Trump, but he was raised to be a leader by his father (even though he wasn't the first choice), who ran NK before him. Trump, on the other hand, had zero political experience, and is still seems painfully clueless about anything he's involved in politically.
