This seems a little ridiculous to me. Am I out of touch? I can understand the idea that the military complex has too much influence on politics. But would it really go that far?

Anyone read his book?

Why would China go to war with us? They will probably rule us economically some day. Their revolution was bought and deeded, and now they are the center of the worst aspects of consumption-based capitalism. Contrary to popular belief, capitalism loves a dictatorship which won't regulate or allow unions.

Not a direct war. The 50 States are under no threat. Any war will be about the US defending the little islands and peninsulas from China. That's how it's done. Proxy wars.

The US and USSR never came to blows directly, did they?

It is ridiculous.

You're not out of touch.

It is unlikely to go that far.

I've read a bunch of these books, including "The Coming War With Japan," a book about how we're going to end up at war with Russia, etc.

All these authors share an obsession with historical analogies. The world doesn't work in the same manner that it used to. There's too much interdependency and communications are too easy for a democratic government to lead its country into an engagement against another major power so easily.

As a wise man once said, the USA, like Red Sonja, is on a never ending quest for a worthy adversary.
