A lot more would be here legally if Trump had not killed the bipartisan border bill. His pet Christian nationalist squeaker of the house fell over and played dead at Trump's command. Trump was quoted as saying he did not want ANY credit to go to Biden so the border crisis goes on.
That bill would have pumped 20 BILLION into hiring border agents, judges and the like but no, too much credit to Biden. Johnson would not even allow DEBATE on the bill much less votes.

It really puts a human face on the whole immigration question - the different types of immigrants: English, Irish, Angolan. Why and how they came - aristocrats, ne'er-do-wells, planters, charlatans, craftsman, people on the run, slaves servants, doctors.
And then what the reactions of the "Naturals" was to this invasion of their lands - first curiosity, then alarm, then fighting back.
The latest and most prominent example of a colonization effort going wrong is Israel and Gaza. Colonization is a dehumanizing experience on all sides. The strong become tyrants and the weak become victims - if they survive at all.
I find the history of the James River quite interesting (the actual history, not the kid's stories about John Smith). Lately I've been studying how Richmond is built at 'the fall line' which separates the Piedmont from the Coastal Plain. How that makes Richmond the last tidal place on the river - hence the last port. And how water power lead it to become a manufacturing center which then produced over half the armaments for the Confederacy.

Couldn't POSSIBLY be families trying to escape cartels where the girls are forced into prostitution and the boys forced to be warriors.
Nah, COULD'NT be that, they are 100% sub humans who deserve to be shot by our agents to keep all the riff raff out of our pristine country since we have NONE of that stuff here.
