April 8th 2024 people looked at cloud cover during the solar eclipse.

That is proper. ⬆️

Putting the day first is the sensible thing to do

Only Americans use that weird sequence which doesn't have the month in the middle where it belongs. The rest of us use either ascending or descending sequences.

@Fartacus

20240408 is the correct way to write dates. That way they sort automatically.

For filing you use: year - month - day: 20240408.

In speech or writing you use: “The 8th of April 2024.”

Is there a right answer? It is a queszion of custom, as European I do of course agree with Shavixmir.
To put the Monath on any other position than the middle is counterintuitiv for me.

You could explain what the advantag is then we might follow you.

Less words.

April 8th 2024. ☑️

8th April 2024 sounds funny so you have to add words.

In speech I use 8th April, rarely add the year. If asked my date of birth I'd say 8 4 68 or perhaps 8 4 1968. If I'm writing I use just the numbers: 8/4/68. Month is never at the start or end.

If you say "the 9th of April, 2024" then 09/04/2024 is correct.

If you say "April 9th, 2024," then 04/09/2024 is correct.

IME, the latter is more popular.

It's really not that complicated.

We are having fun, so I'll ask a fun question...

@sh76, why is my moniker @spruce112358?
